What Is a Reman Engine?
A reman engine (short for remanufactured engine) is more than just a rebuilt engine. It’s an engine that has been completely taken apart, cleaned, inspected, and reassembled with new or re-machined components to meet—or even exceed—original factory specifications. Think of it as giving an older engine a brand-new lease on life.
Unlike a basic rebuild, a remanufactured engine goes through strict quality control, ensuring reliability, performance, and longevity. Our reman engines also come with the remanufacturer’s warranties for added peace of mind. If there is any issue, you deal directly with the company that rebuilt your engine and they help you to repair or replace the reman engine, when needed.

We know our customers have different needs. Many of our customers are looking for the affordability of a dependable used engine, but the engines just aren’t available. Some customers want an engine that feels closer to brand-new without the brand-new price tag. Often when engines are known for having specific problems, remanufacturers can head those issues off at the pass, improving on the original design. Almost all used auto parts stores these days have access to buying remanufactured engines, and Pete’s Auto Parts is no different, we can order reman and aftermarket products (not just engines but transmissions, axles, radiators, condensers, drive shafts, wheels and so much more) but not a lot of stores are stocking the products. You can tell when you are searching for parts on our website when an engine is a remanufactured engine because we put New Reman in the comments, and you can tell when the part is actually at our facility vs one we need to order in because we put “IN STOCK” in all caps. We don’t tend to use all caps lightly, we want you to see that part is available. In the example below, we see a search for a 2016 Savanna van, a 2500, and the middle option in the remanufactured engine, which you can see says “IN STOCK” in the details, the mileage says 0 and the listing includes a picture of the warranty policy, whereas the used options show to have actual vehicle mileage and the pictures are of the vehicles the engines come from.
