When Greg first googled Michigan auto parts, he didn’t know exactly what he would find. Greg had been to a lot of those “u-pull” places like Lucky’s Self Service and Weller’s Self Service in Grand Rapids and LKQ in Holland, but he was busy and he wasn’t sure how he would get away from work to track down the parts. He thought about ebay, but he needed an electrical part, and with ebay can be there may not be a warranty or if the part is wrong it can be a huge hassle to get a refund!
Searching for Michigan Auto Parts
When Greg searched for Michigan Auto Parts, he certainly wasn’t expecting the full-service treatment he received from Pete’s Auto Parts! The first thing he did was call (616-669-6592) and the phone was answered by Tommy, a salesperson who has worked at Pete’s for almost 5 years in sales. Tommy previously was employed at a body shop so he really understands customer’s needs! Greg explained to Tommy he was looking for an alternator for his wife’s 2018 Caravan, and Pete’s Auto Parts had several in stock.
About half the time you call Pete’s Auto Parts, we have the part in stock and can get it ready to go for you quickly! The other half of the time we can source it from one of our partners. In this case, since the a payment link, it was for $68.40, which included a $16 refundable core charge, and Greg paid it quickly and securely with his credit card, so Tommy could place the order. At Pete’s Auto Parts we pull each part in the order we get the payments, so the sooner you pay for your Michigan Auto Parts, the sooner we get them pulled.
The exact same alternator purchased new at the dealership would have cost $617.00 plus tax! An aftermarket alternator (like a Chinese knockoff) purchased at a box sore would have cost over $130 – twice the cost of the recycled OEM part. The quality Michigan auto part was $40 and Greg elected to add a three year part-only warranty, which costs 25% or in this case, just $10 for three years of coverage! Greg had the option to stick with a 90 day part only warranty or do a 1 year warranty for $4 or the 3 year for $10 so he elected for the inexpensive 36 months of coverage.
One of the neat things about the Michigan auto parts that Pete’s Auto Parts supplies is that many parts from many vehicles are interchangeable. In the case of the alternator Greg ordered, his wife has a 2018 Caravan, but that is the exact same alternator that comes in a 2011-2014 Avenger, or a 2011-2014 Chrysler 200, or a 2011-2016 Town & Country, or a 2011-2019 Journey, or a 2011-2020 Caravan! The experts at Pete’s Auto Parts will do an extensive search and ensure the part we are selling you fits your vehicle, even if it came out of a different vehicle!
The alternator that the parts techs went out to pull they first inspected and found to be a quality part, they took a picture of it, removed it from the vehicle, and brought it to the Pete’s Auto Parts shipping and QC department, where the QC techs cleaned it and took more pictures of it, tagged it and marked it ready for pickup. Tommy saw it marked ready in the computer system, so he texted Greg to let him know he could come pick up the part. Greg was running late, and asked if Tommy could leave the part outside for him – so he did, in a plastic bag to protect it from the elements, with the invoice attached.
It was less than 24 hours between the time Greg googled used auto parts near me and when he received a text message stating the alternator for his wife’s Caravan was ready to be picked up at Pete’s Auto Parts location in Jenison. Since he paid in advance, she drove up, parked in the parking lot, and again she was surprised! Pete’s Auto Parts is nice and clean, and although we were closed so the friendly staff was not there to greet him at the door, but his part and invoice were waiting for him.
Pete’s Auto Parts is conveniently located close to Grand Rapids and Holland, in Jenison Michigan. We are located at 2544 Port Sheldon St, Jenison, MI 49428. We are open Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm, but if those hours are not convenient for you, feel free to let your salesperson know that and we will arrange for after hours pickup for your parts. That’s easy! We can accommodate many requests when you are searching for used auto parts online!
Greg saved over $70 off aftermarket and over $400 off new OEM and got the alternator for his wife’s van even quicker than if he had not googled Michigan auto parts near me! The alternator he is installing in the Caravan was made by Chrysler, probably in the very same factory her original alternator was made in, so he is putting a “Recycled Original Equipment Manufacturer” alternator into the van, the very same part the original manufacturer designed for it, not some knockoff.
The return policy on this part Greg bought is industry standard, he has 30 days to return it for any reason at all, but it is guaranteed to work for 90 days. Pete’s Auto Parts also offers extended warranties and labor coverage, you are welcome to read more at https://petesauto.net/warranties/
